\"Down<\/a>If, like Down to Earth over the last few days, you have a stand at a major event such as the Kirchentag, you only catch glimpses of the event itself; yet, taken together, these glimpses paint a new picture.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Caf\u00e9 Himmelsth\u00fcr<\/strong><\/p>\n

A caf\u00e9 run jointly by people with and without disabilities at the Kirchentag. Delicious latte macchiato and a project that gives meaning and offers hope.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Reconciliation<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was moved by a woman\u2019s request asking if I could support her as a coach in reconciling with a family member. When I agreed, she had tears in her eyes.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Amazement<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many people reacted with surprise to our products: \u201eI\u2019ve never seen these before. They\u2019re really great.\u201c<\/p>\n

\u2013 Feedback <\/strong><\/p>\n

Others who were already familiar with our work gave us feedback: \u201eThe Impulse booklets<\/a> are really brilliant. I\u2019m always giving them as presents. Other people have told us about my new book, \u201eThe hut and me<\/a>\u201cIt moved her deeply: \u201eI found myself crying time and again whilst reading it. That never usually happens to me. The book didn\u2019t completely dispel my disappointment in God, but it did ease it considerably.\u201c\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013 Cold <\/strong><\/p>\n

The damp, cold weather (only 5 degrees on Sunday morning!!!) dampened the mood a bit. What a shame.<\/p>\n

- Thinking with your whole body <\/strong><\/p>\n

During a talk on thinking, I realised that we don\u2019t think with our brains alone, but that our brains, bodies and environment all work together to process information. It makes sense, really. Still, it was an \u201eaha\u201c moment.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Sabbath<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Sabbath service organised by the liberal Jewish synagogue really moved me. As a \u201eservice\u201c for non-Jews, they explained the individual parts of the service. That gave me a good insight.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Language<\/strong><\/p>\n

For Protestants, the Quadros are \u201emodern devotional booklets\u201c; for Catholics, they are known as \u201eInspiration for Daily Retreats\u201c. I tried to work out which tradition the visitors to the stand belonged to and then address them in their own language.<\/p>\n

- Snakes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Queues for the toilets, queues at the entrance, queues for food, queues for the underground\u2026 at the Kirchentag there were queues of all kinds and lengths. Whilst waiting in a queue for a coffee, I heard someone say: \u201eIn the East, they always used to say: \u201eNo paradise without a queue.\u201c\u2019<\/p>\n
