Yesterday I read the famous \u201eSong of Love\u201c in *The Message*, an English translation. Luther translates one passage as: \u201eLove does not envy!\u201c In *The Message*, it reads: \u201eLove doesn\u2019t want what it doesn\u2019t have.\u201c Love does not strive for what it does not have.<br \/>\nOuch. I\u2019m usually quite content with material things. But when it comes to dealing with people, I\u2019m all too familiar with that \u201eeagerness\u201c, that fierce inner struggle. The expectation that the other person ought to give me time, attention, understanding or whatever it may be right now.<br \/>\nPhew. If love means that I genuinely and wholeheartedly allow the other person the freedom to give me whatever they want to give me at that moment, then I\u2019ve still got a lot to learn. Phew.
