My sentence for 2022: \"I am full of wonder!\". In 2012, an English magazine once published a list of sentences that you should say before you die. It included such magical sentences as<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Today was good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Thank you for making this possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Isn't that wonderful?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- I dare you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I've been thinking about which sentence I want to say more often in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I'm still wavering between \"I'm full of wonder!\" and \"Isn't that marvellous?\" I want to be more amazed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A woman thanked God for eyelashes. These \"windscreen wipers\" of the eyes are tiny. And yet they are effective and important for removing dust and enabling a clear view - all the way to the stars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We hope you enjoy marvelling at the small and the large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When a lunar eclipse and a blood moon were visible in autumn 2015, millions of people around the world gazed up at the night sky and marvelled at the spectacle before them. I was there too. In the early hours of the morning, the moon could be seen as a huge disc just above the earth and appeared much larger than usual. I was impressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even if you don't see such spectacular images every night, it's still worth taking a look at the night sky. Look at the moon and stars with the naked eye or a telescope, recognise one or two constellations and marvel at the size and vastness of the universe. After all, we can only see a fraction of all the stars, galaxies and worlds that are \"out there\". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The amazing thing is that humans can \"zoom\". Or at least learn to do so over time. Babies' eyes can only recognise what is in their immediate vicinity. As the radius of movement increases, so does the ability to see into the distance. We humans can look into the great expanse - but we can also look at the small things that present themselves to us. This is a unique ability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example Spinoza - that's what I called him. Maybe he was also a she. In any case, it was a spider whose small back was adorned with a tiny cross. And it spun its intricate, fine web between the fragrant lavender plants on my balcony. Like many people, I don't actually like spiders very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it was the dainty Spinoza that had taken a shine to me. Every day, when I sat on the balcony during the summer lunch break, I marvelled at her small body, her dainty legs, the wafer-thin threads that she stretched between the flower umbels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The world of bacteria and microbes is even smaller. But if you look at these tiny creatures under a microscope, you will discover magical marvels of unique geometry. Each snow crystal forms a unique, unrivalled pattern of breathtaking beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can't stop marvelling when I see how artfully composed, uniquely designed and wonderfully made the world we are surrounded by is! Or that is inside us. The marvellous work of our cells. Microscopically small immune cells that destroy evil viruses and thus ensure our survival! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you keep your eyes open, you will find something to stow away every day. In the structure of a leaf or a feather. The miracle is discovered by focussing on the very small. And wonder is basically the basis for gratitude. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
