Yes!<\/p>\n

What new things have I discovered about life?<\/h3>\n

I already knew it \u2013 but experiencing it all over again has confirmed it for me: Constructive praise really does you good.<\/strong> Yesterday, my friends from Hamburg came round and brought some tools and Helge with them; he\u2019ll be helping with the interior fit-out for a week or more. Most people who come on board just say, \u201eBlimey, there\u2019s still loads of work to do!\u201c The two Bernds from Hamburg still recognised my boat from my time in Hamburg and expressed their appreciation and admiration: \u201eYou\u2019ve really made a lot of progress.\u201e And \u2013 after a thorough inspection of the anti-corrosion coating \u2013 \u201cYou\u2019ve done a great job!!\u201d<\/p>\n

They also think it\u2019s feasible to be finished by April if we carry on at this pace. That\u2019s what I\u2019d like to do \u2013 if possible. That was encouraging too. It really does make a difference whether someone offers general praise or whether they\u2019ve taken a close look, know what they\u2019re talking about, and then give an informed opinion.<\/p>\n

What new things have I discovered about myself<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
I don\u2019t always find lightness easy. <\/strong><\/em>\u00a0A good friend reminded me in an email that God is indeed with me and that the boat project should fill me with ease and joy \u2013 because HE is with me. Today I read Matthew 11: \u201eCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest \u2013 for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.\u201c Even though Jesus\u2019 words refer to being accepted by God \u2013 something we do not have to labour to achieve \u2013 they also reminded me, more generally, of the lightness that can be found in life.<\/div>\n
After all, it\u2019s often not the situations themselves that make life difficult, but rather the thoughts we dwell on:<\/div>\n
\u2013 Will I manage to bid for or source affordable insulation material and panels for the wall cladding in time?<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Which wood-burning stove is the best?<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Will we manage to crane all the heavy items on board (carrying 100\u2013400 kilos is surely too heavy)?\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Will I be able to sort out the electrics?<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 What\u2019s the best way to manage water, service water and waste water?<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Will I be able to keep going, health-wise and in terms of stamina?<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Will I earn enough over the next few months to cover all my expenses (I\u2019m hoping for a really good Christmas sales period!)<\/em><\/div>\n
- ...<\/em><\/div>\n
That and so much more goes through my mind. And it sometimes weighs heavily on my heart.<\/div>\n

My favourite recipe for lightness:\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2013 Constantly choosing not to worry<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Instead, to entrust to my God the things I find difficult. <\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Tackling the tasks and things that need doing day by day<\/em><\/div>\n
\u2013 Doing lovely things that energise me and that I enjoy.<\/div>\n
