I have followed the reports on the ship\u2019s restoration to date with great interest\u2026 I came across a page belonging to the GDR Inland Shipping Company which mentioned the ship\u2019s current whereabouts. As a child and teenager, I often spent my holidays on this ship when it was still in regular service as a passenger vessel for the \u201cWhite Fleet\u201c, sailing from Stralsund to Zingst \u2013 Kloster (Hiddensee) in the summer.<\/em><\/div>\n
I last saw this ship in Hamburg in 2009, when it was in a very poor condition. My father in particular will be delighted when I can tell him that someone is looking after \u201ehis\u201c ship again; he served as an engineer on the \u201eGellen\u201c from when it entered service in the early 1970s until the mid-1980s and therefore knows the steamer inside out.
