I agree with him. At the moment, I feel like I\u2019m 100 hours behind. There are so many things I\u2019d have liked to have finished by now but haven\u2019t got round to yet:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Selecting the best pictures for the new calendar, \u201e365 Promises from God\u201c<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning windows<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning shoes<\/li>\n<li>Doing the laundry<\/li>\n<li>Book flights for conferences<\/li>\n<li>Listing items on eBay<\/li>\n<li>Writing articles for the LEA and SAM blog<\/li>\n<li>Keep people informed about upcoming courses, seminars and events<\/li>\n<li>Design a heating system for the boat or seek advice on this<\/li>\n<li>Further my education: coaching, nutrition, fitness<\/li>\n<li>Spiritual growth<\/li>\n<li>Sow or plant herbs, lettuce and tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>Preparing for the next seminar or lecture<\/li>\n<li>Sort books<\/li>\n<li>Caring for the leather of your handbag<\/li>\n<li>Do some strengthening and balance exercises<\/li>\n<li>Create a list of my business trips in 2013 for tax purposes<\/li>\n<li>Write short descriptions of new titles<\/li>\n<li>Continue to the short biography of Gutenberg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2026and in between, eating, showering, pottering about on the boat, replying to 60\u201380 emails a day\u2026and much more besides.<\/p>\n<p>I delegate tasks as much as I can. And I make the most of certain moments in a particular way: I mainly use my journeys on the S-Bahn to the ship for further study, and I use the time I spend brushing my teeth or waiting on the platform for my gym routine \u2013 no matter how stupid the other passengers look at me. Listening to spiritual music when I\u2019m relaxing, dreaming and solving problems whilst asleep. Watering flowers to unwind. That\u2019s actually quite effective. But there\u2019s still a huge amount of work left for me to do.<\/p>\n<p>I find it \u2013 despite all the time-management and self-management techniques I\u2019ve mastered, either actively or at least passively \u2013 a constant challenge to allocate my time wisely. What\u2019s more important \u2013 a new newsletter or further training? Exercise or cooking? Studying or cleaning the windows? Tidying up or relaxing? Playing with a child or pastoral care with an adult? No one can give you a completely watertight answer to that. In many cases, it\u2019s impossible to say what the best use of time really is right now.<\/p>\n<p>I ask God for wisdom \u2013 sometimes, during my morning prayer time, I feel a pull in a certain direction: \u201eThis is important today!\u201c, sometimes tasks arise out of urgency\u2026 such as when an eBay dispatch needs to be sorted within a certain deadline\u2026 And sometimes I really don\u2019t know what the best use of my time is\u2026 and do one of the many things I consider important\u2026 and hope to make good progress\u2026 and perhaps at some point have only 99 hours\u2019 worth of tasks left that I\u2019d have liked to have finished already\u2026 or maybe just 97\u2026.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8222;Gegen\u00fcber\u00a0derF\u00e4higkeit, die Arbeit eines einzigen Tages sinnvoll zu\u00a0ordnen, ist\u00a0alles andere\u00a0im Leben ein\u00a0Kinderspiel.&#8220; hat der gute alte Goethe mal gesagt.
