\"2016-06-14-14-23-30\"The last few weeks have been intense. At the beginning of September, I received the final annual accounts for 2015, which made it clear that the publishing house was operating at a loss. At the same time, I realised that although I am very creative, I am not very analytical. I knew this beforehand, but I only realised how much of an impact this has on running a company after reading Rock your idea<\/em> aware.<\/p>\n

Of course, I have no influence on a whole range of factors. I wrote about this in the Blog from Down to Earth <\/a>written. The fact that middlemen demand discounts of up to 60% from us publishers is something I can't do anything about with my existing resources.<\/p>\n

But the lever I can always use is myself.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ever since I realised that I wanted to learn, develop and become a better entrepreneur. Or an entrepreneur at all. There's a big difference between someone who works for themselves, for most itself<\/strong>\u00a0toconstantly<\/strong>\u00a0and someone who runs a company, does something, but doesn't do everything himself.<\/p>\n

With Down to Earth, I'm somewhere in between. I lead a brilliant team that works independently in many areas, but a publishing house plus coaching plus seminars is quite time-consuming and complex. In the end, a lot of threads come back to me. Which is sometimes good. Often exhausting.<\/p>\n

I would like to learn to be more entrepreneurial here. To structure better. To optimise processes.<\/p>\n

I would like to.<\/p>\n

I would like to... anyone can say that.<\/p>\n

I do it.<\/p>\n

I am learning to become an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

I have decided to take part in the Call to Action of the Entrepreneurship Foundation<\/a> to participate.<\/p>\n

This is a one-year training course in entrepreneurship (entrepreneurs is the more contemporary word for people who develop solutions, wear vegan and fairly produced trainers rather than suits and expensive leather shoes and who sit in caf\u00e9s rather than in big executive chairs.<\/p>\n

These are the external aspects. On the inside, it's about developing solutions for this world that serve people. Whether it's fair trade tea like the tea campaign or technical solutions that make life easier.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, I expect the programme to give me the impetus to optimise my existing company. And maybe I'll also start one or two new companies if I can think of something that I can develop to make this world a little bit better.<\/p>\n

Because I can quickly get enthusiastic about things, I took the precaution of asking my two best friends for advice on whether I should actually do it. After all, it costs money and time. One of them said \u201eThis seems to be the best way for you to effectively learn the things you want to learn.\u201c\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The other said dryly \u201eYou're not happy if you can't learn anything new. I would recommend it to you! Besides, I could bet that as soon as you've learnt something, you'll pass it on to others. That can also be a blessing.\u201c\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

So: This week is the start.<\/p>\n

Sure... the whole thing costs. Time and money. Not super much. But 550 euros + approx. 200 euros seminar fees is a lot when you're up to your ears in debt. If you'd like to help finance a few days or weeks or a month of learning, I'd be delighted.<\/p>\n
