Michelle Obama's sentence refers to him, but goes far beyond that.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps she also looks back to the time when men had the legal right to decide everything their wives did: Profession, finances, sexuality. This is portrayed in the film Die g\u00f6ttliche Ordnung \u00fcber den <a href=\"https:\/\/kerstinhack.de\/en\/general\/the-divine-order-a-film-and-a-topic-that-moves-me\/\">Swiss women's fight for the right to vote impressively described<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.down-to-earth.de\/media\/image\/c5\/c0\/16\/Q-56_Starke-Frauen.jpg\" alt=\"Strong women. By Kerstin Hack\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/>Over the last few months, I have been intensively occupied with the question of whether the minimisation and exclusion of women, which is still practised in some Christian circles, is actually tenable from the Word of God. And the Quadro <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.down-to-earth.de\/detail\/index\/sArticle\/3548\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Strong women<\/a>. Liberating biblical perspectives<\/em>\u00a0published on this issue.<\/p>\n<p>For me it is clear: yes, the health of a Christian congregation can also be recognised by the way it treats women, encourages them, values them and gives them the space to live out the gifts that the Father has entrusted to them for the good of all.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, because I want to understand the topic even more deeply, I read the book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.de\/gp\/product\/0800795776\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1638&amp;creative=6742&amp;creativeASIN=0800795776&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=downtoearth-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Fashioned to reign\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0by Kris Vallotton. In it, he addresses two questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are women allowed to lead in church and society?<\/li>\n<li>What does female leadership look like?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After thoroughly analysing the biblical texts, he comes to a clear \u201eyes\u201c to the first question.  He finds well-founded, plausible explanations for some of the \u201edifficult passages\u201c. One thing that was new to me: in the 66 books of the Bible, there are only three books that contain passages that seem to restrict the leadership of women. These are letters from Paul to churches or leaders of churches located in Ephesus, Corinth and Crete (Letter to Titus).<\/p>\n<p>There was a very pronounced worship of female deities there - with the associated ideas from which the young Christians had not yet broken away.  At the end of many of his letters, Paul writes that other churches should also read them. He does not do this in the three letters with the difficult passages. This can be understood as an indication that the comments refer to a specific situation, not to all women in all places.<\/p>\n<p>My comment: No-one would ever think that the exhortation to Timothy, who was suffering from stomach problems, to \u201eTake some wine for your stomach, don't just drink water!\u201c should be understood as a universal rule for all Christians.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Vallotton writes that the question of the type of<em> like<\/em> Leading women was far more challenging for him than the question, <em>whether and where<\/em> are allowed to lead them?<\/p>\n<p>How does a woman lead?<\/p>\n<p>He gives the answer by describing five different women who lead in very different ways: Through sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, through strong perseverance and solidarity, through the ability to paint vision before their eyes, through deep compassion for the poor and weak and being a role model, or through living integrity.<\/p>\n<p>Being a leader can mean standing at the front and telling others where to go. But it can also mean developing and shaping something.<\/p>\n<p>I am happy that we at the publishing house have a number of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.down-to-earth.de\/impulshefte\/weltveraenderer\/paket-weltveranderer-starke-frauen.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">have published compact biographies about some leading women <\/a>and describe what these women have achieved in the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.down-to-earth.de\/media\/image\/8a\/a7\/16\/weltveraenderer-set_frauen578383c052189.jpg\" alt=\"World changer women \" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sophie Scholl<\/li>\n<li>Margarethe Steiff<\/li>\n<li>Aung San Suu Kyi<\/li>\n<li>Hildegard of Bingen<\/li>\n<li>Marie Curie<\/li>\n<li>Helen Keller<\/li>\n<li>Coco Chanel<\/li>\n<li>Mother Teresa<\/li>\n<li>Astrid Lindgren<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They have left their mark.<\/p>\n<p>They have made our world more beautiful, freer, braver and healthier. It is worth knowing their stories and telling them to your own sons and daughters. So that they too can become people who leave their mark on this world.<\/p>\n<p>I hope that in our society and especially in Christian communities, women will be given the space to fulfil their potential -
