To make matters worse, it was very windy and the wind was whistling through the cracks in the window frames in the wheelhouse, where I have my office. I first sealed it up with gauze bandages (emphasis on <em>poor<\/em>).  The single-glazed panes are not a hit anyway. And not particularly energy-efficient.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It's quite clear: something has to happen here soon, otherwise I won't survive the winter well.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next week, boat builder Helge will be coming for about two weeks to tackle the \u201ewheelhouse project\u201c.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Insulate all joints and cracks<\/li>\n<li>Apply a second layer of window glass (yay!)<\/li>\n<li>Cladding the ceilings and walls<\/li>\n<li>Laying the floor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The office should then be at least halfway winter-proof.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Of course it costs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A few hundred euros for the glass<\/li>\n<li>100 - 150 euros for insulation material<\/li>\n<li>100 - 200 euros for paints, sealant etc.<\/li>\n<li>Working hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All in all, I estimate that the whole thing will cost between 1500 and 2000 euros. Basically not a lot for fitting out an entire room. But a lot if you don't have it.<\/p>\n<p>I currently have minus 20 euros in my account. After a long wait, the chairs for the seminar room finally arrived a long time ago. And they are marvellously beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>Because we still have a construction phase ahead of us, I've only unpacked and assembled three. But they are super comfortable - just as I wanted them to be.
