- List of pending replies: <\/strong>Sometimes you send people an email or ask them for something and have to wait for a reply. It\u2019s always on your mind. To stop it being on your mind, it\u2019s wiser to jot it down straight away on a \u201ereply pending\u201c list. Either on paper, electronically, or in a separate folder in your inbox.<\/p>\n - Separate reference material from tasks. <\/strong>There are documents you keep because you need to refer to them from time to time \u2013 for me, these include, for example, lists of titles and ISBNs, or lists of new releases. I\u2019m naturally working on the new releases as well, and there are things to do and plan in that regard. If everything \u2013 reference material and to-do items \u2013 ends up in a single list or folder, it soon becomes confusing. It\u2019s better to keep things clearly separate: put all the documents you still need to act on into one section, folder or inbox. Put only the documents you need to refer to in another.<\/p>\n The advantage is that this approach quickly reduces the pile of work and makes processes clearer and more organised. You don\u2019t have to rummage through stacks of paper; instead, you only have the sheets relating to your tasks in front of you.
