The woman who had been with him through thick and thin since his school days. And whose shared surname was as simple and normal as the two of them. Simply the Schmidts.
\nBut I'm also sad because Loki Schmidt's death has shattered a dream. I have long dreamed of writing a book about couples who have been happily married for a long time. The Schmidts would have been one of the first couples I would have liked to interview. If I had dared to realise the idea... I always thought I needed to gain more experience and be a bit further along as a publisher before I tackled such a project. Now it's too late. At least to interview both of them for the book.
