- What new things have I discovered about life?
Instructions that seem simple are obviously difficult for people to understand. Last night, my mobile phone gave up the ghost. It wouldn’t respond at all. I couldn’t even switch it off, let alone use it to make calls, browse the internet or check the weather. I couldn’t access my contacts either. Luckily, a friend had given me a spare mobile! This morning I sent an email about it to some friends: „My mobile’s broken; I’ve lost all my contacts. Please send me a text message with your name.“ It seemed straightforward. Or so I thought.
Some people emailed me their number, which meant I had to type it out – rather impractical, as I’d already mixed up the digits in the very first number. Others wrote to me saying, „Here’s my mobile number.“ Only they didn’t tell me who „mine“ actually was.
- What new things have I discovered about myself?
It really does me a world of good to have developed the ritual of writing (almost) every evening about where and how I discover life. Amidst everything that’s proving very stressful at the moment (from sick staff to faulty ships and even malfunctioning mobiles), it does me a world of good to be mindful of life… and not to miss the beautiful moments in it all. Life IS beautiful!
