Frequently asked questions
Ship
Yes, with pleasure.
The seminar room can be hired for seminars with up to 20 people, for meetings or small celebrations. Prices and conditions on request.
Nope. The ship is not available for Berlin holidaymakers.
The reason: the guest rooms in the ship are designed for people who are looking for orientation and/or need a break. There are many great hotels and hostels in Berlin for tourists and visitors to Berlin!
The boat can comfortably accommodate 3-4 people.
There is a room with a (narrow) double bed and a bunk with two beds. This means that two or a maximum of four people can stay on board at any one time.
Yes, with pleasure! There are various options.
The ship is now finished - also thanks to the help of many people. I have written the whole story of the project in my book Cast off described.
However, the work on such a ship never stops. That's why people who want to help out for a few hours or days, renovate or artistically embellish are very welcome.
I also offer time out on board for people who want or need to reorient themselves. Not everyone can afford the full amount it costs to offer this opportunity. I am happy to receive financial support here.
The corridor is sometimes cool, but the rest of the ship is pleasantly warm.
That's the question I'm asked most often about the boat. Don't worry: the ship is heated by a pellet stove and the seminar room by a wood-burning stove. They make the main rooms cosy and warm.
The pellet stove also heats hot water, which heats the walls and shower water in the sleeping areas below deck. So nobody has to freeze.
Events and lectures
Yes, I enjoy giving talks, seminars and workshops.
However, I only do this at certain times of the year. Twice a year - once in spring and once in autumn - I am available for 14 days for talks, events and seminars.
You can find an overview of my available dates for the next few years here: https://kerstinhack.de/termine/

Yes, experience has taught us a lot.
I speak at a high table or small desk - and preferably with a headset. Then I have my hands free, which I really need to speak. I prefer to drink still water or herbal tea before or during presentations.
If there is no large wall clock in the room to keep track of the time, I ask you to provide a large kitchen clock.
Yes, of course.

As a rule, yes.
As a rule, I agree to audio recordings of my lectures for private, non-commercial use. This also applies to small-scale sales (e.g. as a recording for the participants of an event).
I would like to discuss video recordings on a case-by-case basis, especially if the videos are to be used commercially.
Yes, or I can have them sent to you first.
Depending on the size of the event, I bring books and quadros with me or have them sent in advance. I would like to have staff support at the book table, as I can't do the maths, hold talks and sign books at the same time.
Not necessarily. But I would like a room for myself.
A room that I can retreat to is enough for me. Hotel or private - I'm flexible. Either is fine.
It depends on the duration and the organiser.
For a presentation with me as speaker you invest 650 Euro + VAT. You can get a full day with me for 1200 euros + VAT plus travelling expenses (flight or train).
I am happy to give non-profit associations and organisations a discount of up to 50 % by arrangement.
I talk about how to live your life well and make your dreams come true.

Commitment & support
I am cancelling here due to the abundance of such requests.
Many people know me from seminars, books or articles. They know that I am moved by many topics and that I have contacts with many people. That's why I receive enquiries almost every day asking if I can
would like advice on a specific topic.
I could support a great product or project.
would read and comment on a manuscript.
I enjoy supporting people through the inspiration in my books, as a coach and speaker and I am involved in selected projects, e.g. Shelter Now (e.g. here). Doing more voluntary work on the side is beyond my capacity.
If I said „yes“ to all the many exciting requests, I would have no more capacity for the things that I feel are my mission and my calling.
That's why I do it this way:
As a matter of principle, I do not advertise projects, petitions and similar concerns of others.
The reason: it is practically impossible to draw a line as to why I am spreading one issue and not another. That's why I always say no. I ask for your understanding.
I am happy to offer advice or manuscript reviews as part of my professional activities.
The reason: I earn my living with coaching and counselling. Just reading a manuscript or giving advice is usually not enough.
Sustainable help or well-founded feedback on a manuscript takes time. I am happy to take this time for you as part of a coaching session or an expert opinion.
If you would like advice from me about your life or your writing career, you are very welcome to book a coaching session with me or expert feedback on your manuscript from my editing team.
Personal matters
Yes, of course. Also 10 with pleasure.
I am always happy when people ask me something because it means that they are interested in discovering new things and meeting me.
Tulips.
I find this plant fascinating in its powerful, colourful appearance and in its death. Tulips don't wilt like other flowers, but rather make a dramatic exit.
Definitely tomorrow!
I love and enjoy the silence in the morning. I usually treat myself to a time of meditation and prayer with a view of the water. Afterwards, everything inside me tingles and I can hardly wait to start the day.
Coots.
These birds have a beautiful name that always reminds me that God wants to bless. They also look like clumsy little children to me with their bumpy movements. I often laugh out loud when I see them.
Oh yes, I also really enjoy watching children or playing with them. Or their blunt questions: „You have a houseboat? Hmm. Do you know what happened to the Titanic?“
I don't have any children of my own.
I've never been married - not out of principle, but simply because it didn't work out, and I don't have any children of my own. All the more reason for me to enjoy having four brilliant goddaughters who I am happy to accompany as they grow up.
Open storytelling and gifts.
I enjoy it when people give me an insight into what moves them. Whether in coaching or in private conversations. That always touches me deeply. I experience it as a great gift when a person shares their heart with me.
I also think getting presents is great. I'm happy about almost anything. Flowers are always nice, but something tasty to eat, a nice drink or a little luxury that I might not be able to afford myself right now also makes me happy.
As I'm currently trying to turn an old industrial wasteland into a garden, I'm particularly happy about everything that's growing at the moment: flowers, herbs, useful plants and shrubs.
Quite often: what other people cook for me privately or in restaurants!
I enjoy almost everything that others cook for me. I can cook, but I'm not really passionate about being in the kitchen. When someone else cooks a meal for me, I almost always think it's wonderful.
I enjoy Vietnamese cuisine, I like bowls and colourful salads and everything from the grill, especially if the ingredients are well marinated. In terms of flavour, I particularly love chicken, fish, peppers and fennel and lots of herbs - not necessarily all at the same time.
I want to be able to inspire people for a long time to come.
I would like to be able to climb trees and inspire people when I'm 90.
In my book Cast off I wrote: „My next dream is you!“ If I manage to help 1000 people realise their own dream in the course of my life, I would be very, very happy.
Not being able to do everything at the same time - even if I try from time to time.
I have lots of ideas and sometimes find it a shame that I can't realise them all at the same time. I often find it difficult to judge which of the many great ideas are better than others and then decide in favour of one or two - sometimes I try to do too much at once.
Design and layout.
I don't really care about the latest fashion, but when I find a great, well-cut and interesting dress, I'm just as enthusiastic about it as I am about a cleverly designed piece of furniture or a functional yet beautiful household item.
I enjoy exhibitions, buildings and books by people who have created timeless design, such as William Morris, Bauhaus, Alvar Aalto and Coco Chanel.
My role models range from Assisi to Gutenberg, Rosenberg and Chanel.
- Francis of Assisi impresses me because he didn't do things alone, but built up an entire community that still exists today.
- Johannes Gutenberg, who designed a completely new technology from scratch, is of course a role model par excellence for me as a publisher and author.
- Mindful interaction with people is important to me. I am fascinated by Marshall Rosenberg, who Non-violent communication has developed. I learnt a lot from him.
- In business Coco Chanel with its bold and creative decisions, its clear concept and its timeless design is a great role model for me.
