Favourite tools: Hammer, nailer, LEA
I keep my two favourite tools on the boat. The first is my carpenter’s hammer. You can use it to hammer nails in – and, if you or someone else has missed the mark, to pull them out again. You can also use this sturdy tool to chop up smaller items or as a makeshift chisel. I like the hammer because it’s so versatile.
And I love the pneumatic needle hammer. As the name suggests, it’s a tool that runs on compressed air. Around 30 thin needles move in turn, dancing away at old paint and rust. When I first held one of these in my hands, I was in awe of it because of its 2-kilo weight and the noise it makes. We’ve become friends now, and I enjoy removing old paint and rust from the ship, inch by inch. I like the tool because it’s so powerful for its purpose.
In the field of coaching, the LEA online course is one of my favourite tools because it is both universal and specific. LEA is a training course for men and women who want to let go of their emotional baggage.
