Food for a good cause

I was recently in Switzerland on business - for a seminar. But I combined this with a visit to friends. Two friends independently came up with the idea of giving me their euro and cent coins because they wouldn't be back in a euro country in the foreseeable future. It was a whole bag full of money.

I used it to pay for the journey to the airport today - to reduce the weight. And earlier I wanted to welcome myself to Berlin with a frozen yoghurt. I asked the shop assistant if I could pay with small change. He said yes. And told me that he always donates 10 and 20 cent coins. I gave him my coins - and we were both happy that we were now doing something good for other people. And he laughed: „You're eating for a good cause now!“ It tasted delicious!

Two days later, I went to a market stall towards the end of the market with the remaining coins - about 4 euros - and wanted to buy flowers there. The seller asked how many flowers I wanted in return. I replied: „As many as you want to give me!“ You can see the result on the right...I'm pretty happy - what a gift.
