Wow - The light goes on
Yesterday Helge, the boat builder, and Uwe, the electrician, proudly showed me the biggest new feature on the boat: Light switch.
It's fascinating. You press a switch - and the light in the room switches on. In the main room, in the bedrooms, in the shower. And the shower now also has a ceiling.
You can live with temporary solutions. Even for a very long time.
And of course, during the three and a half years of construction we had got used to the fact that the only light in the toilets was from outside and a miniature battery-powered thing that didn't really deserve the name „light“.
It was also okay to shower by candlelight. And reading in bed with a torch. And of course always having to carry lights somewhere to work and plug them into an extension lead.
And now:
You press a switch and the light comes on. Fascinating. Simple. Marvellous.
It's simply beautiful. And I'm delighted about this milestone.
I am grateful to everyone who helped with this - including all the steps beforehand. Removing rust, painting, insulating, laying cables, painting walls and building.
Save the date: From 2 - 7 April, life and learning week on board the ship
In the morning and after work, I and others give impulses on faith and life.
During the day we work on the ship. In the evenings you can have a barbecue, go to Berlin, etc. Craft skills are desirable, but not essential. The most important thing is an open heart and a willingness to learn and lend a hand. Overnight accommodation is available on board. If you are interested in joining us, just write in the comments or, even better, send me an e-mail.
