Mirror Kerstin Hack A perfect fit for me

A perfect fit - find what suits me.

A perfect fit - find what suits you. Kerstin Hack

For small children, there are these wooden boards with punched out holes. The child's task is to put a piece in exactly the right place. Only the correct part fits into a certain square. If it works, the child cheers.

In adult life, the challenges of finding the right thing are often greater and more complex than simply fitting a wooden or cardboard part in the right place. There are far more factors to consider than just size and shape.

Tasks - perfect for me

But when something fits, the cheers are huge.

Many of my tasks and activities suit me well.

  • Coaching. I love accompanying people as a coach and seeing how those seeking advice find clarity, experience how inner knots are loosened and the path becomes recognisable.
  • Publications: I really enjoy conveying good content in a compact form and designing it professionally with the help of good graphic designers.
  • Input: Passing on inspiration live in the form of talks and webinars and being able to respond to people's questions is very fulfilling.

Doing all this was and is really, really good.

Of course, inspiring activities often include organisational tasks that require an attention to detail that I lack and that is therefore exhausting and energy-sapping for me.

Organisational matters often take up 30 - 70% of my time. Nevertheless, my tasks suit me really well.

LEO - a venture

When I saw the Online Training LEO I didn't think so much about myself, but about the others.

I had several goals

  • Inspiration: I wanted to inspire people to live their lives lightly and strongly at the same time.
  • Coaching: I wanted to help people with their questions.
  • Community: I wanted to build a community that strengthens each other.

It was an experiment and a risk. I didn't know:

  • Would that work?
  • Would people appreciate this form of support?
  • Would it work financially - technology, graphics etc. all cost money

After a few months, I realise that it's just about financially viable, I haven't become rich yet, but at least it's not tearing a hole in the budget.

What is crucial is that people love it. The mixture of inspiration, support and an empowering community is ideal for many people to finally change things that they have wanted to tackle for a long time.

Some have found the strength through LEO

  • Finally start mucking out
  • Take better care of your body
  • Set good boundaries.

When I received feedback from participants, I sometimes sat in front of the screen with tears of gratitude in my eyes.

I'm very grateful that I'm now better at keeping myself organised and I praise myself when it works instead of putting myself down when it doesn't. - Catherine

I am more aware of my limits and am learning to accept them more - Anna

I have reached my goal and discovered my most important values. - Kerstin

It is such a gift to see that LEO is actually changing people's lives.

LEO - the big win

And LEO is basically a mixture of the three things I love:

  • Coaching in the group and sometimes also for individuals, e.g. when they ask questions in the LEO exchange group
  • Publications: I design the weekly mails and worksheets with a lot of love. Even attention to detail.
  • Input: I hold webinars and Q&A sessions within LEO and love answering really good questions and getting feedback from the participants.

What was the biggest surprise for me: LEO makes me deeply happy. Much more than I had expected.

I think it has to do with the time factor. When I write and publish something, I write it at a certain point in time and then send it out into the world. I often don't know what effect it will have - so receiving feedback from readers is particularly valuable to me.

When I coach, hold seminars or lectures, these are usually one-off events. Afterwards, everyone goes their own way again. At LEO, I am able to accompany people over a period of months.

I can

  • See what progress they are making
  • Cheer with them when they achieve their goals
  • Give advice and support.

And then I experience that a lot changes. Just like one participant wrote:

I wouldn't have thought that LEO would bring so much change, even though I haven't invested much time at all! - Gabriele

This fulfils me with even deeper satisfaction than living my passions of coaching, publishing and giving input individually. LEO was - at least professionally _ the best gift I have given to others and to myself.

How to live a customised life - my lessons

The experience taught me several things:

  • It's worth taking a chance: I would never have learnt that something like LEO works if I hadn't dared. Without taking a chance, I would never have known if it wouldn't have worked. Some questions can't be answered by thinking about them. It's important to try it out.
  • It makes sense to limit the risk: I wouldn't invest all my time and money in a project that I don't know if it will work. Of course I limited the risk. I didn't spend thousands of euros on specialised software, but started with what we had and what was feasible and affordable for me.
  • It's good to know what gives you deep pleasure. I knew my strengths and passions, which was a good basis for knowing what I was good at: I can do that well.
  • It is worth looking for combinations. In future, I will continue to encourage others and myself to look for ways in which they can combine different passions: Designing, children, hiking, sports, teaching, reading... all of these can be creatively combined and possibly even more enjoyable.
