I'm writing a book - my motivation
I'm writing a book: The good life. Why am I actually writing?
There are many answers to this question - some of which you can find on Facebook and Instagram discover.
Two aspects are particularly important to me.
(My) words move people
Yesterday I received a Facebook message:
I am F. a young man from Syria who spoke to you two years ago; I was still in Turkey waiting for a visa to Germany, you wished me success, thank you very muchI came to Germany, learnt the language and now I'm in my second semester of medical school. In Turkey, at the time when I was afraid that my visa would be refused or that my future and dreams would be jeopardised, I needed the motivation that you once gave me.And now you have to say thank you for that.
When I read these words, I can't hold back the tears. 123 words that I wrote - that's all they were - encouraged a person so much that he still remembers them two years later.
Words have power. Power to give hope. Power to bridge the distance between people. Power to develop new perspectives.
I write because I hope and trust that I can give life, give courage and entice people out of well-trodden paths.
I love to learn and inspire
My best friend told me yesterday:
I don't know anyone who reflects on their own life as much as you do and is constantly learning new things that make life better.
It's true. My idea of a life well lived is that one day, when it is over, I will stand before my God and say:
I was the best Kerstin I could be.
I've long since given up on wanting to be the best Mother Teresa - she already exists. Or the best researcher, the smartest philosopher. That's not in me.
I want to fully utilise my gifts, abilities, potential and interests. Whenever I reach my limits, I set off into new territory. Full of excitement about what there is still to discover. I always sense that there is more! I want to discover it!
And I love efficiency and multiplication
New learning costs me something. Sometimes „just“ time. Often also quite a bit of heartache, courage, overcoming fear or release old blockages. It's worth it - just for me.
What's more, I think it's even nicer when other people also benefit from what I have worked so hard to achieve. If they can benefit from the discoveries I make along the way, just as I have been inspired by what others have discovered before me.
If they are inspired by it - and take off themselves.
No one has to build all the roads on the path of life themselves. We can give each other gifts.
That's why I'm writing...
Question for you? Why do you read what I write?
I have the assumption and hope that what I write gives you something. But I would be interested to know what word or words you would use to describe what you get out of it.
Thank you for your comment.
