Fireplace, culture and calories

oranier_bora_12_grey_one_1The good news: a milestone has been reached.

I've just ordered the stove. It can do everything - heat the entire boat via an air circulation system and also heat water. Really brilliant. It's the last big thing I need for the boat.
The bad news

When the invoice is debited, my account will be 4000 euros in the red. If you'd like to help make things less bad: Paypal: info@down-to-earth.de Or ask me for my bank details. That would be nice!

The last few weeks I have been travelling a lot for lectures and with Welcoming culture busy. We have the Quadro on the subject Welcoming culture. Refugees and support and have found it to be very helpful for many people. I hope that it will play a decisive role in helping people to see refugees as people who need encounters, care and support and to tackle the challenges posed by the current refugee situation with courage.

We have a Facebook page on the topic Welcoming culture also created the page Volunteer Translatorswhere people who are refugees themselves or who speak refugee languages translate short texts into the respective languages, e.g. "You are very welcome in our neighbourhood café". We then want to make signs from the translated texts and post them soon on the new page  signs-for-refugees publish. Everyone can then download the required signs there.

We think this will relieve those people who work with refugees if they don't have to find translators for "Please keep the door closed!" or "Emergency exit" or...or...If you have the time and inclination to join in and put the translated texts into a Word.doc, that would be great. Just let me know.

In all the intensity, my weight loss issue has taken a back seat...but I'm still at it...and I've lost more than half (3 of the 5 kilos I wanted) and am enjoying recognising my contours clearly again. Also a gift.
