Discover life - learn, learn, learn
Was I alive today?
Yes!
What new things have I learnt about life?
Planning takes time, and there are always things you don’t think of. Bill the heating engineer was here today; he’ll be fitting my heating system soon. Together with him and Helge, who’s just started work on the insulation and interior fittings, we went through a whole host of things. There’s so much to think about….
– Underfloor heating has a certain installation height…usually 6 cm – which is quite a lot when you’re dealing with low ceilings.
– When it comes to the installation dimensions for toilets, stairs and so on, it is important to bear in mind that some structural members on a boat are similar to load-bearing walls in a house – so under no circumstances should anything be removed from them.
– Window insulation is a whole other problem in itself.
In short: a lot of things that you might simply think, „Let’s just build a staircase there!“, turn out to be more complex in reality. And they require plenty of time for planning. But it’s not impossible.
What new things have I discovered about myself?
DIY shops remind me of the treasure hunts of my youth… except that, unfortunately, you have to pay for the prizes you end up with yourself… and… it’s absolutely lovely to have my neighbour’s car to use at the moment – though that didn’t stop me from sticking my arm out as I turned a corner….I am, after all, a keen cyclist.
