Power planning and power shopping

2014-10-08 15.03.50I try to take time once a week for publishing conception to think through and plan important things in peace. As I find this rather difficult in the office because interruptions tend to distract me, a nice café is often the ideal place to relax.eckerere  smarter alternative.

Yesterday I had a strong inner impulse to go to Potsdam. There I first worked outside and later - because of the rain - inside on the redesign of my personal website and the blogs of Down to Earth planned. I'm quite happy with the result. The whole thing now „only“ needs to be realised.

The real highlight of the day came when I finished work and went home. I currently have a 12-point list in my head of things that I urgently need to get because the previous ones are dirty, broken or too far gone - including.

  • White business blouse (I've shrunk out of the old one because I've become slimmer in recent years)
  • New jeans - because the old favourite jeans are dirty and ripped after two years.
  • boots because the old ones let water in from underneath.
  • Winter jumper...
  • Crease-free dress for lectures.

On the way home I passed a shop I like but always thought was too expensive... but it said „clearance sale“ on it. And within 5 minutes I had ticked the first 5 items off my list.... with things that were made for me, priced absolutely ok - especially after I bargained - I got the dress for free with the other 4 items. And all great quality...

In the next shop I found 4 more. And while I bought a few more groceries, I had a key made in shop no. 4. All in all, 3o minutes for 10 of the 12 items on my to-do list. 11 is not so urgent and I can order 12 online. So - I'm satisfied. And I have a hunch that God, as the best womaniser ever, has steered me in the right direction because he knew that, apart from shipbuilding and publishing, I don't have that much capacity for extended shopping trips.

And in the evening I inspected my wardrobes to see which things I could sort out and / or give away (one jacket already has a new, happy owner), in addition to those that have been broken, in order to to stay true to my motto for a lean life: 1 (new item) in, 2 out.
