My royal road to more peace and quiet

Being able to rest means letting go and believing:

It's not all down to me. Neither on my actions nor on my thinking. 

That sounds right. But in practice we often don't manage it. 

Do you recognise this? Do you sometimes wonder how you can recharge your batteries in stressful times?

In my latest inspiration email, I shared my secret on how you can establish real peace in your life. I would now like to expand on this topic here.

What is peace and quiet?

Rest can have different faces. The most efficient forms of regeneration include sleep and rest. But also:

  • Do almost nothing: Just sit or lie there and do nothing but listen to your own breathing or look at something. Or do something calming and monotonous, such as knitting.
  • Walk quietly: Go for a walk or do other physical activities in great peace - for example, hang out the washing very quietly or sweep the flat quietly to calm down.
  • Reduce stress: Use your body to find peace and quiet. Do a sprint, a few wall sits or press-ups to reduce stress. Or progressive muscle relaxation.
  • Let go of stressWrite down stressful things and/or calm down in prayer/meditation.
  • Electronic devices fromSwitch off all electronic devices at a certain time of day (90+ minutes before sleep is recommended) and reduce light in the environment.

If the recovery phases are no longer sufficient, even normal everyday tasks become a stress factor. It is therefore important to take phases of regeneration seriously and to get to know yourself: What is good for me? Where and how can I recover and find peace? How do I relax?

My recipe: The Swing - Concept

I would love to be able to calm down at the touch of a button. But it's not that easy. Unfortunately, this is my experience and that of many others: There is calm - almost like a room where you can feel peace and trust. But you have to actively go there to find peace.

Recently, for example, everything went wrong for me. I couldn't realise what I had planned. Circumstances such as a lack of internet were ruining my plans. I was under time pressure because I realised that I wouldn't be able to complete my tasks on time and was in danger of becoming hectic. But then the 8 + 1 concept helped me to stay calm.

Let's go back to my recent experience. At the moment when everything went wrong, I realised that the following building blocks were important for me personally to find peace again in this situation:

If you are not successful enough in what you want to achieve, you become frustrated and discouraged. This is not a relaxed state.

Mindset faith and trust

When you have an inner attitude of trust, many things become easier. Basic trust in your own abilities, God and life relaxes you.

When I realised this, I also knew what I could do for each of the needs in order to experience more peace despite the difficult situation. To do this, however, I had to take active steps.

I took a deep breath and looked out of my window at the water, reminding myself that even when things go wrong, life is good! Then I endeavoured to get the internet back up and running. As this took some time, I used the time effectively and organised the documents that I would need later. It's a paradox: it takes effort to calm down.

So if you want to experience more peace in the future and establish what you have learnt now, you have to do something about it. The good news: it's not that difficult!

Yes, sometimes the waves do rise, but I "Swing" simply with the waves and so I can balance lean angles. I want to make that possible for you too.
