Strengthen the immune system
It doesn't suit my nature to scare myself and others. I prefer to look for sustainable, good solutions.
The best solution I know of during this corona period is to strengthen your own immune system. That way you can fight off pathogens as effectively as possible.
But to be honest, most people know very little about the immune system.
It is a complex interplay of nutrition, vitamins, hormones, exercise, emotions, confidence and faith, learned immune defence and much more.
We are almost illiterate when it comes to the immune system and what we can do for it ourselves.
When you ask people what they know, they say: "Immune system - you should take vitamin C." And that's usually it.

Reduce body weight
Another important aspect of health is body weight. Neither too little nor too much is good.
Obesity in particular is the biggest risk factor for a severe course of many diseases and infections. My doctor explained the three main factors to me like this:
- InflammationsA lot of fatty tissue leads to more inflammation in the body, which in turn favours infectious diseases and cancer.
- Vitamin D deficiencyLight has a harder time reaching the layers of skin where the body produces vitamin D in overweight people. Vitamin D deficiency makes you more susceptible to many diseases.
- Lack of exerciseMore weight often leads to less enjoyment of exercise and to the usual health consequences of lack of exercise.
When people want to lose weight, they often try to eat less. But the opposite strategy is often better.
Instead of eating less in general, you should eat more of the good things that your body needs.

- Sleep + recoveryWe often reach for food because we are tired and need energy. Those who get enough sleep are better protected against this.
- Drink: 80% of all people confuse thirst with hunger and eat something when all their body really needs is liquid. Drinking enough can protect you from hunger pangs.
- More nutrientsvitamins and fibre: it's best to eat fresh: Prof James, a world-leading nutrition expert, recommends eating 10 different fresh foods a day. If this is not enough to cover your needs, take supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids.
My tip: Think about one thing you can do today to get a little fitter.
