What if your next step is the start of something big? That's exactly what I've been able to experience over the last 25 years! This anniversary is more than just a number - it is full of inspiring stories, milestones and encounters that have touched my heart.

From small beginnings to big growth

Have you ever wondered what is possible over the years if you keep at it step by step? When small beginnings become great things? That's exactly what I've been able to experience over the last 25 years as an entrepreneur. This anniversary fills me with gratitude and amazement at what has happened in the lives of individuals.

When I started my company in 2000 Down to Earth I had no idea what it would become. And the beginnings were not particularly glorious. A young man called Tobi helped me with the layout of my very first book: „Coming home to God's fatherly love" at the last minute. His father wasn't at all happy that Tobi had skipped a day of his community service for this. Oops... I didn't know anything about that.

Gifts in large numbers 

I celebrated my birthday at the weekend - with a delicious brunch at a friend's house who was celebrating his birthday on the same day. And I'm continuing to celebrate: with raffles on Instagram and, above all, with a lot of gratitude for what has been created.

A lot has accumulated over the last 25 years:

The figures are impressive.

When you hear figures like these, you might be tempted to think: WOW. I could never do what she did. 

And to be honest, I sometimes feel the same way when I see the big numbers that people post about their projects online.

  • Remove 90% of plastic from the oceans by 2040 (Ocean Cleanup)
  • Supply 250 million people in Africa with green electricity (Acumen)
  • Serve 1 billion meals to hungry people (Feeding America)

But when I think about my figures, I realise that it didn't happen all at once, but has grown over 25 years.

Every small step has contributed to this: 

  • each individual project
  • every book and every Quadro
  • Every hour in front of the laptop
  • every hour of work on the ship
  • each lecture
  • every hour Coaching

All of a sudden - almost without realising it - the many small individual steps become something big. 

For me, but also for you. 

These figures are impressive, but they are not the main thing. Because ultimately, it's not about numbers - it's about people.

It's not numbers that count, but people

What fascinates me about Jesus is that although he spoke in front of thousands of people, he always turned his attention to individuals. When I look back on 25 years of being an entrepreneur, I don't just see numbers, but above all faces:

  • An artist who told me that one of our books gave her guidance during a difficult phase and saved her from suicide.
  • A woman who, through LEO has finally conquered the chaos in her flat.
  • A man who said that the course IDA comforted him after a painful separation.

I think of so many people who have found new perspectives by taking time out on board or through coaching. People count. You count. And I think of the many people who have found new perspectives during a Time out on board or in the Coaching have overcome their fears and found new perspectives.

I think of a wonderful, talented woman who told me several months after being bullied and losing her job that she was at the end of a Time out on board said she had hope again for the first time in months.

You count too



And: You have contributed to it. You put your trust in me - otherwise you wouldn't be reading this blog post.

They were also your steps: every order in the Shop, each Coachingeach booked Course  All that many individuals have contributed has enabled me to continue and develop new things.

Tip: Recognise the contribution of others
Maybe you haven't built up a business. But you have certainly experienced that others have helped you and made something possible through their contribution that would otherwise not have been possible.

You can say thank you silently in your heart - or let the person know.

Your support has made this possible

And: You have contributed to it. You have placed your trust in me - otherwise you wouldn't be reading this post. Every order, every coaching session, every booked course has helped me to move forward.

My dream: freedom for people

When I founded Down to Earth in 2000, I wanted to help a few people. I thought of a few dozen or hundreds. Today I can see that my team and I have been able to inspire thousands of people. We have converted two ships that are or will become dream places for people. With your help, we have been able to help thousands of people in poor countries.

But not everything went smoothly. Some developments have fallen short of my expectations. Financial bottlenecks, hard times - that's all part of it. But I have learnt: There is always a way.

What I did - especially in difficult phases:

  • Adjust expectationsNobody promised that it would be easy.
  • Breathe deeplyAllow pain, anger and tears.
  • Taking one step at a timeI went to the shipbuilding site one to three times a week and just kept working.
