A little less water in the Hunza Valley

The Situation in the Hunza Valley in Pakistan still moves me. The lake, which was formed by a landslide in a river valley, is still more than 100 metres deep... and has swallowed up houses, roads, etc.

The picture is from the 3rd floor of a hotel..... the first two floors are filled with water.

Temperatures in the region are currently dropping again - leading to less meltwater. The river that feeds the lake is weakening. The lake can drain slowly. Slow, of course, is still a disaster for the people whose homes upstream are swallowed up by the water. Fast would be a disaster and a threat to the people who live downstream.
