Achieving a lot together
Having seen first-hand during the ship project just how much can be achieved when lots of people work together, I’d like to invite you once again to get involved – for refugee children. Better Place Düsseldorf has launched a competition: the project that can mobilise the most donors will have a huge poster campaign funded, featuring 500 posters across the city.
My sister Tina is coordinating this as part of a project for refugee children who are looked after by Diakonie Düsseldorf. Some of them had never had toys, pens or books in their lives… The project helps them settle into life in Germany – through support, learning materials, books and pens.
I would appreciate your support. Every donation helps.
To win the poster campaign (and thereby gain even more support), it is NOT the amount donated that matters – but only that, how many people are taking part.
You can easily make a donation via PayPal (or by bank transfer – either is fine). ONE euro or 50 cents is enough, to boost their chances of winning the campaign. The deadline for the competition is midnight on Friday 31 May 13.

Are you in?
Update on 1 June 2013: You’ve won!!!!
The poster campaign will run in late summer. And not only have they won, but they have also raised over 4,000 euros in donations so far to help refugee children make a fresh start in Germany.
I thought what my sister said was absolutely brilliant:
„If I can’t stop the war in Syria, I at least want to do everything I can to provide the refugees who come here with decent living conditions!“
THANK YOU to everyone who took part.
We’ve won: the children have won! Wonderful.

Dear companions, friends and colleagues of Kerstin,Your support for refugee children on Betterplace has made an incredible difference! We’ve received an unbelievable €4,796 from you and others within just one month to support our work with refugee children! That’s brilliant, overwhelming and more than we ever dared to hope for. Now we’ll be able to buy lots of lovely toys, go on outings together and put a smile on lots of children’s faces.I’ll keep you up to date with any news, and I’m absolutely delighted today with what we’ve achieved together!Kerstin, I’m incredibly grateful to you for your fantastic circle of friends, who have been so committed to our project over the last few days! Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to your friends.Yours, Tina
Carry on – if you like
Although the competition is now over, you can still make donations to the project – at the moment, they still need soft toys, ingredients for cooking activities, and a few pictures and frames.
