Body, Spirit, Soul - the one sentence that stuck
Attention: This post may contain traces of advertising ;-)
Something so stupid - I had such a fancy text about the book Body, Spirit, Soul written by nutritionists Beate Nordstrand and Heike Malisic - and had overlooked the fact that you also have to save files.
Now it's gone. Somewhere in space, my electrons are now being recycled - they can no longer be found in my computer. What the heck - I'll start all over again. The art of calmness, of not getting so worked up about everything, is a topic the authors write about.
Body, Spirit, Soul as travel reading
I had the book on a reading tour, in which I myself read from my new book The good life read with me. I had chosen it deliberately. I knew that I wouldn't have time for long reads during the five intensive days at several stops, but that I would definitely be craving good reading material in between.
For this Body, Spirit, Soul on. The topic Live holistically lighter - as the subtitle says - is the topic that I have been dealing with for decades and about which I have already written many articles. Books and Quadros have written.
So - as you would expect - there wasn't that much new content for me. Beate and Heike describe good, solid, tried and tested strategies for taking good care of body, mind and soul. Tangible, practical, realisable and true to life. For readers who have not dealt with the subject as intensively as I have, this is certainly a good, helpful summary.
Body, Spirit, Soul - very personal
It was therefore more touching for me to hear from the two of them in person. Body, Spirit, Soul is not just a theory book, but Heike and Beate talk a lot about their own lives, about the struggle to motivate themselves to do sport or inner battles when life doesn't go as planned.
Occasionally, I was a little confused by the fact that I didn't always know which „I“ was talking about two of the authors. However, I was often very touched and encouraged by the authenticity and depth of faith with which they spoke. Problems and challenges are recognised as such. In addition to the comprehensible approaches for practical coping, there is always a deep trust in a good God - I found this mixture very beneficial.
Life is now
In the end, it was one little sentence that touched me the most. I think it was Beate who wrote about how she wanted to do a lot of things before travelling that weren't necessarily urgent. And then realised that she was missing out on life.
Life is now. For me, that's the sentence I learnt from Body, Spirit, Soul I have taken with me as a treasure. Because unfortunately it also happens to me that I lose myself so much in important or unimportant tasks that I postpone life.
Missing out on life
A few days ago, for example, I was looking for a pen on a morning with a glorious sunrise. I wanted to make some colourful notes for my morning ritual of starting the day reflecting and praying on the roof of my boat.
But when I opened the pencil boxes, I realised that the coloured pencils and pencils were all mixed up and some had broken off. So I sat down, sharpened the pencils and coloured pencils and put them neatly back in their respective boxes.
Suddenly I realised what I was doing: I was missing a beautiful sunrise because I was sharpening pencils. Sharpening pencils can wait. Life is now.
Thank you, Beate and Heike, for your encouraging book.
