In God's school - by Hafiz
Recently, I’ve been rediscovering the poems of Hafiz, arguably the most famous Persian poet. Unfortunately, I only know of one good English translation. Over the next few days, I’ll be translating one of them into German from time to time and posting the English texts on my the English-language blog ‘Heart of Berlin’ post.
For a while
We’ve all ended up in the right place.
We are all sitting in God’s classroom.
Now,
My dear,
There’s only one thing left for us to do:
Stop doing that for a while,
Making little spitballs.
