Cast off for your time out

In the book A year by the sea the author Joan Anderson describes how, having reached midlife, she saw little meaning in her life - and in her marriage either. Without even asking her opinion, her husband had accepted a job that would necessitate a move.

She didn't go with him, but went away to a holiday home by the sea to think about what she wanted to do with her life and her marriage. In the end, she found new perspectives for her own life and her life together with her husband.

You don't have to let it get as far as she did. Regular reflection times can help you stay on course in life or, if necessary, adjust your course before you get completely lost in the mire.

Sometimes a time-out like this, a change of scene, can work wonders.

Sometimes you can't reflect alone. You need a counterpart, for example a coach.

A time-out and my company: I can offer you both.

Why time-outs are so important!

There is often no time left in stressful everyday life ...

  • to come to terms with your own visions and wishes.
  • for creativity and ideas.
  • in order to reflect and visualise.

Time away from the daily grind to focus on yourself and your own wishes, dreams, goals and visions. Developing visions and plans requires creativity, and creativity requires time and an inspiring environment.

Taking time out means

  •     Leave everyday life behind
  •     Time to feel yourself
  •     Keep your distance
  •     Let go of pressure of expectation
  •     Take a deep breath
  •     take a closer look
  •     arrive at yourself
  •     Open up to new paths

Extended, special time-outs

Life is full of appointments, opportunities and obligations - we hardly get a chance to reflect.

That's not our fault: life is like that today.

We all know the feeling of not being able to calm down, no longer having a clear head and asking ourselves: "What am I actually doing here?"

If you want to go deeper and clarify how you want to evaluate the past and shape the future, you usually need more time. This can be a few hours, but also a few days or weeks.

It is advisable to go to a different, quiet yet inspiring place. This has the advantage that you won't be distracted by everyday tasks - provided you leave your mobile devices behind or switch them off. In addition, when you look at your own life from the outside, so to speak, you generally see more.

A suitable location could be an outdoor space in summer, a café or a rented beautiful room in winter. If finances are tight, you can also ask absent friends with nice rooms if you can spend the time at their place.  Or: My ship!

Time out on board

The 24 metre long ship, built in 1958, was originally a torpedo catcher for the GDR navy and later an excursion boat on the Baltic Sea.

From 2013 to 2018, I, Kerstin Hack, completely renovated the ship together with professionals and friends and converted it into a residential, seminar and guest ship.

The ship is located in the south-east of Berlin on the banks of the Spree, easily accessible and yet quiet and secluded.

It is the ideal place to relax on board or in the ship's garden. Just around the corner: a local recreation area for long walks.

Being there

Two to 22 days, nice rooms for 1-2 persons, large thinking room, kitchen and bathroom with shower

Experience nature

The Spree on your doorstep - kayaking, cycling, running, swimming, barbecuing, walking

Professional coaching

Depending on your needs, one or more hours of coaching for new perspectives, clear focus or inner healing.

Inspiringly different

Exceptional yet comfortable with shower and kitchen. Directly on the Spree with a wide view of the water.

In addition to the living and working area, there is a separate area for guests:

  • Guest kitchen, a guest room with sofa bed and desk and a bedroom with two bunks
  • two separate decks for guests, barbecue, kayaks
  • and a large room with a wood-burning stove and a wide view of the water - as a space for thinking and reflection.

The guest rooms are designed for people who need a break from everyday life in order to calm down, overcome crises, think something through with concentration or develop new perspectives.

If you would like to take some time out, you can here about my offer.

It's best to book soon, as places are in high demand - especially in summer. But you can also be on board in winter. The ship is easy to heat and even has a wood-burning stove!

Can I take some time off?

This is probably the most common internal hurdle. Do you feel that a time-out would be good, but find it difficult to treat yourself to it or to make concrete plans? Maybe these tips will help you:

1st tip:

Write down why you want to take a break!

Hang it up where you can see it every day.

2nd tip:

Realise what the worst thing that can happen when you take time out is!

Would your family go hungry? Will you miss important appointments? Could you be out of work for a while afterwards? For how long? What would happen then? Is there a way to cushion these things so that a break would still be possible?

3rd tip:

Write down what you expect from your time out and how it will feel.

What does your perfect day look like that brings you down?

4th tip:

Find your time-out model and try it out on a small scale, perhaps after the test you will be able to take a longer break!

I hope these four tips help you. Perhaps you have just decided to get away from deadlines, tasks and challenges and find some peace and quiet. To have time for the essentials. Tackle important issues with professional coaching.

Then I invite you to an unforgettable time on board the Anna Grace directly on the Spree in south-east Berlin and look forward to seeing YOU.

Reflection & alignment

This is an element from my Swing-Concept of the 8+1 elements of lifeReflection is the ability to take on new perspectives and learn; without reflection and alignment, you repeat your mistakes.

The concept of Swing-balance

The special feature of the Swing-Concept is that while it is important for a fulfilled life that all elements are present in life, it doesn't matter where and how you live them out.

Whether vision and creativity unfold at work or in leisure time is not so important - the main thing is that they find space in life at all.

Online you can do a test herewhich element of life is currently being neglected.

Here you can read an entertaining summary about Swing read in the blog.

On the fridge, for example!
