How to connect with God - a few steps

Good Friday or "Good Friday" is a moving holiday for me. For me, it is above all a day that reminds me of God's fatherly love remembers. A love that is so great that it is prepared to sacrifice the dearest thing - its own son - so that we can reconnect with each other. Genuine, deep connection that nourishes the heart and soul.

Longing for connection

Connection is so important!

Unhappy connection is painful. I recently coached a woman who talked about how she never manages to build real closeness with her father. As hard as she tries, she doesn't really succeed. He fends off real closeness with empty phrases. He only asks questions to get information, never to find out what moves her.

The Father in heaven is very different. The authors of the Bible often describe how God longs to be close to us. How he tries everything to win people's hearts. In the end, this culminates in him sending his Son into the world as a sacrifice to bear everything that divides us. The Sacrificial anodes of a ship The people who sacrifice themselves for the preservation of the ship are an impressive image for me.

I have tears in my eyes right now and I can't think of any words to describe how moved I am that God cares so much about our connection.

Blocked connection

Everything has been sorted out by God: He has cleared the way to reconnect with us. Everything is clear. If only it were that simple. It often happens to me that - even if the path to God is clear - I often don't manage to get into an emotionally close connection with God. I long for his closeness and run away from it at the same time.

Sometimes it simply has to do with the fact that my head is too full and I can't take anything in - not even God's love. Occasionally, I then de-stress myself by going for a walk or Wingwave self-coachingto create space again. From time to time, however, it also has to do with fears and misconceptions that I first have to let go of in order to reconnect with him.

Practise the connection

Experience God's fatherly love - feel a deep connectionBut it's often a question of practice. In one hour, I can teach people the basics of non-violent communication explain. This is the best way I know of to resolve conflicts and build closeness. But it takes weeks, sometimes months, to practise the steps to such an extent that deep closeness is a lasting success.

Also with God: building a connection with him is also easier if I take specific steps. For example, stopping first, but also taking the time to look and visualise images of his love. I have a practical guide to this in a new, free ebook written.

There I also quote some Bible texts that describe God's love in this way and that you can visualise in order to understand him more deeply, for example

I'll wash off you,

what soils and burdens you.

I cleanse and renew you - Isaiah 1:18

A good day

This is Good Friday. The good Friday. It's good that since Good Friday, every day can be a good day to connect with God. That's what I wish for you.
