Your favourite life Vol. 10: The circus elephant in you is a bottomless pit

What does a circus animal and barrels have to do with your ability to believe and trust? Well, you'll find out today.

This blog post deals thematically with the life element faith & trust from my swing concept of the 8+1 life elements.

"Faith & Trust" is the plus one of the 8+1 life elements of my swing concept. Trust is the ability to rely on yourself, other people or a higher power.

Without trust, you suffer from constant emotional stress.

For this element, we have chosen the icon of the mountains and the colour brown.

Faith and trust are the foundation of life and thus also of the Swing-concept. The basic trust that we as human beings can and should place in life influences all other areas. If you don't have trust, then you can't trust life and shape it. Then the foundation is missing.

Let's take another look at the image of the minimum barrel. I imagine that a barrel is filled with my quality of life. Each individual rafter represents an area of life. The lowest rafter determines the quality of life.

If trust is missing, then the bottom of the barrel is missing. It's a bottomless pit. Then it doesn't matter what the other rafters do, without trust everything is nothing.

Why it makes sense to trust life:

  • Trust allows you to leave your comfort zone
  • Trust lets you grow
  • Trust gives you vitality
  • Trust creates change in and through you
  • Trust brings joie de vivre

Trust means: What do I want to be able to believe?

To achieve a goal, you need trust.

As a rule, there are three areas of trust:

1. self-confidence: I have the confidence to do this.

2. trust in others: Here I can rely on others.

3. basic trust: Here I have trust in God/life.

What about self-confidence?

Many people think: Once I have the courage, I'll tackle this or that. So said

A woman recently told me: "It was great how relaxed you were with the announcements at the event. For such

I don't have the courage yet!"

She waits for the courage to come.

But it usually doesn't come by itself.

Let me tell you a story about this:

(copied net find)

A little boy loves the circus. He is particularly fascinated by the elephant with its immense size and power. But there is one thing that puzzles him: Every evening, the giant is chained to a small wooden stake. It is driven into the ground just a hand's breadth deep. Why on earth doesn't the elephant pull out the peg to which it is tied? Why doesn't he try to break free?

Then a wise man explained to him that the elephant had been chained to this wooden peg when it was small. He tugged and pulled at it, but didn't have the strength to free himself. At some point, he resigned himself to his fate. Today, he no longer pulls on his chain because he believes he cannot. The memory of how powerless he felt shortly after his birth is too deeply engraved in his mind. The fatal thing: He has never dared to seriously question this memory again. The big elephant would only have to dare to put his strength to the test once - and he would be free.

Without self-confidence, you're like the circus elephant.

Strengthening self-confidence through action

Self-confidence has a lot to do with our basic self-image: Do you think you are more of a

A person who achieves set goals or not? Do you think you are more disciplined or more

careless? Rather pursued by success or rather by bad luck?

How did this self-image come about?

Our self-image arises from what we do and how we evaluate it.

The influence of actions on our self-image

We are not fixed to a certain image of ourselves. Our self-image is strongly influenced by

our actions. If you go jogging 3 times a week for a year, you will end up

probably think you're sporty. If you eat more sweets every day than you had planned,

you will probably think you are an undisciplined person.

In other words, your actions shape your self-image. It is easier to change your self-image through action.

than through positive thinking or whatever.

Therefore: Just act differently on a regular basis - at some point you will believe that you are like this.

Recognising positive aspects to boost self-confidence

We humans tend to perceive negative things more strongly than positive things. It is therefore important to

Consciously focus on the positive. Even if something didn't work out 100%, you can

look at the 50%s that have worked and evaluate the positive aspects.

- Gratitude: What have other people contributed to the success?

- Healthy self-confidence: What have I contributed to the success?
