Dream and reality - oops
Reality is reality. I never said it was easy. And that would also be a lie.
In 2012, I started to realise my dream of converting an old ship into a houseboat and seminar boat. I thought it would take two years. Then reality caught up with me.
The harsh reality
It took much, much longer than planned to derust, paint and refit the ship. The planned two years turned into six and the costs increased at a similar rate.
And there were also a few extra crises. In my book Leinen los. How I built a houseboat in the centre of Berlin to live my dream, I have described some of them. For example, what it feels like when you hear that the ship is travelling on a storm surge. Shipyard runs full of water.
Short version: To cry.
The dream is beautiful. The reality is hard. Sometimes very hard.
The dreamlike reality
However, it is also the case that many people who are afraid of realising their dreams are ignoring one thing: There can also be many wonderful surprises.
For example, when a friend brings a whole motorbike full of groceries onto the ship - I would never have thought how much you can transport on a motorbike. The Aldi must have been empty afterwards.
Or when refugees - side by side with German and international friends - spend weeks removing rust and transforming the ship into a masterpiece. Or when many people contribute large and small gifts to make the dream a reality. That is - if you realise a dream - also a reality.
Beautiful to cry about.
Reality check: learning to realise a dream
Ever since I built my ship and wrote the book about it, people have been asking me: How did you do it? How do you realise your dream?
Three steps are necessary to move from dream to reality
- Become free: Get rid of inner fears and blockages
- Be concrete: Developing a clear concept from a vague idea
- Becoming visible: For most dreams, it is important to get others on board.
Then at some point I had the idea: I could teach other people. I know how to solve fears, turn ideas into realisable projects or products and develop websites and crowdfunding.
The reality - I'll do it: Cast off
Because it takes several months of work and time to develop such an intensive programme. And time is money, so I thought: I'll start a crowdfunding campaign. That way, we can all make the development of the workshops possible together.
Cast off. 3 workshop seminars for dream realisers
That's why I'm inviting you to join in. You can support the campaign in the following ways
- Become a fan. It's always good when people say: I think that's good.
- Support „Leinen los“ - and choose one of the many beautiful thank-you gifts.
- Share it with others - especially with people who are still stuck in their unfulfilled dreams. By email, on social media.
It would be a dream come true if you were there to help make the Dream Realisation Workshop a reality. Are you in?
