Fundis and realos or coffee grounds and mushrooms

I was recently at the Entrepreneurship Summit, a conference for people who want to make a difference in this world. In one workshop, a Project which I found very inspiring. Mushrooms are grown on coffee grounds and other organic waste. The coffee grounds come from Berlin cafés that would normally throw them away.
I was less enthusiastic about one listener's comment: "The best thing would be if we didn't import any coffee at all. That's kind of true, of course. But if you think this through to the end, we would all have to go back into the woods and collect berries. So it's not a perfect solution.
And: I don't like it when first steps are talked down. Neither with projects nor with Coaching. Every step in the right direction is a reason to celebrate. I think so. Quite fundamental.

  1. Hello Kerstin,
A great idea! I can't understand the condemnation of worldwide imports. When you consider how many people live from it! And Germany has long been one of the top exporters! :-)
    Kind regards

    1. I can understand that for some things. I don't really understand why you have to fly apples from Chile to Germany. I try to be as local as possible - because every transport route consumes unnecessary energy and pollutes the environment. When it comes to things that aren't available elsewhere, I also think it's appropriate - within limits - to import and export things.
