How I get things done - 2

I’ve got the book now How I get things sorted I’ve read half of it and learnt quite a bit already.
I found the following advice particularly helpful:
– Whenever you look at a project or a task, immediately ask yourself: What’s the next step I can take?.
- All , really, write down absolutely everything you need to do on a list that you go through regularly. Not just the important things, but absolutely everything that pops into your head that you ought to do. That way, you can clear your mind for the tasks ahead.
Exceptions:

– Appointments. These go in the diary
– Things that take less than two minutes. I’ll sort them out straight away.

I’ve been doing this for a week now and I can really feel what a relief it is not to have to keep thinking „I mustn’t forget that“… but instead to know that everything’s been recorded.

Last week, I made a note of everything I’d ticked off the list to see how much I’d actually got done. The result:

  1. Hi Kerstin, you’ve touched on a sore point for me. Tidying up my little shared flat in particular is urgently needed, but I’m really struggling to get started. It’s brilliant how much you’ve managed to get done. Here’s hoping you keep up the energy for all your projects – Steffi

    1. Hi, Steffi… here’s a little tip. Start with ONE corner… imagine what it’ll look like when it’s tidy. Tidying up is all about MAKING DECISIONS… and we often shy away from making them. Saying to yourself, ‘I’m going to be brave and make a few decisions now,’ often helps when tidying up.
