Recognising support
On my bad days as a self-employed and single person, it sometimes happens that I think: „Nobody helps me. I have to do everything on my own.“
The corresponding feelings of self-pity and sadness follow in the wake of the thoughts. Helpful? Not really.
So I decided on a countermeasure. Against autumn-winter, lack of support and other blues. I remember five situations during the day where I received support.
My favourites today were:
1. make-up
When I realised - shortly before an important, official appointment - that I had forgotten to put on my make-up, I went to Karstadt to quickly apply it. A shop assistant saw this and I told her why I was doing it. She offered to do my make-up for me. I could never have done it that professionally.
2. climbing aid
When I got lost on the way to the appointment, a man helped me to climb over a fence with my bike - which saved me a long diversions.
3rd chance hit
On the Ku'damm, I happened to meet a woman I knew who gave me important background information about a situation I had experienced and couldn't categorise. Did someone support me that I just happened to meet her today?
4. counselling
I received very good advice for a business situation. Not quite cheap. But good consultants are worth their money in the long term.
5. technology
The people at Textunes have Crises - App finished our first impulse booklet as an app for iphone, ipad and ipod: Crises. Impulses for overcoming difficult times. I'm as happy as a snow queen. You can buy the app from the App Store straight away or just download a free sample first.
It really does me good to realise how much support I receive in the course of a day...this wasn't everything... “just“ my top 5.
how beautiful!
Sounds good :-)
Thank you Kerstin! As a „self-employed“ and „single“ person, I know these days and these thoughts too... and it encourages me to read what you write. I want to learn to recognise the support I receive and be happy about it.
