Dealing with finances

On Monday, I played Cash Flow with some friends. It’s an educational game for adults that teaches principles of managing finances and investing in a fun way. It’s certainly not an unimportant topic for me, as I’m self-employed and won’t be getting a pension – so I want to think about how I can look after myself properly.
What I found fascinating was that I behaved in the game just as I do in real life. What a surprise! But in the game, I was able to work out more quickly than in real life what would help me progress and what wouldn’t. That had a significant learning effect. It helped me to recognise once again which principles and behavioural patterns shape me, and which of these are helpful in achieving my goals and which aren’t.
