This makes losing weight easier: two helpful approaches
〈4 minutes reading time〉
In January, I told you about a friend who wanted to lose weight. However, she lacked an inner image. That's why little happened at first.
She is now 4 kilos lighter and has lost 2 % of body fat and even built up 1.4 % of muscle.
The result is impressive and motivates them to keep going. Without her vision Strong inner imagewould probably not have worked so well.
I have helped a number of people to get their weight under control and I am pleased to introduce you to 2 powerful approaches that I know. I have only recently tried them on myself. I knew how losing weight worked for me. So I made a plan. The only thing I had to do was implement the plan. After two months, I had achieved my goal.
Then came Christmas...
After that I was allowed to get the plan out again to reduce the three pounds of Christmas feasting again... ;-)
In addition to the superpower of imagination, my girlfriend also follows the 2 approaches that worked for me:
- She had to change, what she eats.
- And change, like she eats.
Change what you eat
"I've changed my diet, the biscuits are now to the right of the PC" my friend said jokingly.
In fact, her biscuits were no longer in the house, she had given them away so as not to be tempted. In her case, giving up carbohydrates was the key, and she had previously had blood work done. The result: initial Insulin resistance. The diagnosis also made it clear what she had to do: cut out carbohydrates and sugar. Rigorously for a few weeks at first.
It worked immediately and was actually the right approach for her.
Not every body is the same. Not every reason for being overweight is the same.
Nevertheless, these two approaches are helpful for everyone and can be the key: Change what and how you eat! See what happens then.
If you are unsure whether - like my friend - you have a hormonal disorder, get yourself checked out. It is then often easier to know what you should avoid and how you can eat to support your body.
Possible strategies for changing eating habits
- No sugar and flour
- Reduction of carbohydrates
- Eat more natural foods
- Less fast food and ready meals
- Water and (unsweetened) tea instead of soft drinks and alcohol
- only berries instead of very sweet fruit
- ...
Changing your diet is about replacing bad habits with healthier ones.
Important for a successful change: The new diet must suit you. You will only stick with it if you feel full and it tastes good.
Observe your current eating behaviour
You should know the initial situation before the changeover:
- keep a diary of your eating behaviour and consumption for a week
- Analyse:
- What and how much do I eat or drink and when?
- When do which complaints occur?
- What do you notice?
If you notice any unhealthy habits, e.g. frequent snacking, find out why:
- Convenience?
- Boredom?
- Thirsty?
- Frustration eating?
Think about what you really need at that moment. Or how you can manage to avoid certain foods, perhaps a "Instead of list".
It's best to build up a "instead of stash" so that you can reach for better alternatives the moment you get weak. On my Pinterest account, I even have a "Instead-of-pinboard" with healthy ideas.
Sometimes the mind wants one thing - to lose weight and get fitter. And the emotions want something else. In my webinar, I explain how you can successfully reduce emotional eating without any effort: Stop emotional eating.
Change how you eat
If you know what you no longer want to eat: tidy up your kitchen and pantry for the new start and remove all "sources of danger": give away food that doesn't fit your new diet.
What your new habit looks like can also be very different.
Strategies for changing eating behaviour
- No snacks and snacks between meals.
- Intermittent fasting - only eat for 6, 8 or 12 hours a day.
- Learning to eat mindfully and listen to your body
- Reduce quantities - for example by using smaller plates or weighing the food.
Try unfamiliar ingredients to add variety to your diet. Test new flavours several times. Because flavours only change slowly.
If you are used to many ready-made products, then an unsweetened natural yoghurt with berries may be strange at first. Try it out slowly.
My friend should eat more fish, but only likes fish fingers. Initially, she made the healthier version herself as a first step. Then gradually without breading. She now likes some fish. Not all fish. But that's ok, she's found her way.
Find your way
You can use the various strategies individually or in combination.
Exercise plays a subordinate role in losing weight. The big lever is eating behaviour.
My tip is: don't overstretch yourself by starting a new fitness programme alongside your weight loss programme. You can incorporate more fitness when you have lost some weight and feel more like exercising.
Maybe your goal is to lose weight.
Or more inner lightness.
Or better relationships.
Wishing alone will not get you anywhere.
You need a plan.
You can make the plan yourself.
Or you can ask me for help. I can help in a Coaching develop a customised plan with you.
Or you can use a plan that has already been tried and tested.

The life element of energy & joie de vivre is part of my Swing-concept: The most beautiful and profound thing I have ever developed for a holistically good life. While the other concepts strongly separate the individual areas of life from each other, the Swing-Concept the basic human needs that are important for a balanced life:
The special feature of the Swing-Concept is that while it is important for a fulfilled life that all elements are present in life, it doesn't matter where and how you live them out.
Whether vision and creativity unfold at work or in leisure time is not so important - the main thing is that they find space in life at all.
