Tip: Reuse avocado pits
My tip for a good life
It is important to me to treat nature and creation with as much care as possible and to be as Environmentally friendly as possible. That's why I'm inspired by ideas on how to reuse things.
I love eating avocados. They always end up in my green smoothie in the morning. I eat them, even though I know that their CO2 footprint from being imported from southern Europe or other continents is not exactly a hit. That's why I try to get everything from the avocado - including the stone.
The basic ingredient: flour from the avocado pit
You can use avocado kernel flour for many things. The easiest way to make it is in a blender with the ice cube/ice crush function. A good blender can also do this. You can remove the brown skin beforehand, but this is not absolutely necessary. I make the flour before I make my green smoothies - the avocado pit contains lots of amino acids and is effective against germs. If some of it stays in the blender and goes into my food, it's actually good. But you shouldn't eat it in large quantities (more than half or a whole stone per day).
A few ideas
- Colouring eggs: Simply add the avocado flour to the egg water.
- Natural colour: The colour will be more intense if you leave the brown skin of the stone on, paler if you remove it. Simmer the flour from approx. 3 or more avocado pits with 50o ml water for 20 minutes, then sieve. Dye the fabrics in it (depending on the size of the fabric, use more colour, of course).
- Shampoo: Simmer the flour from approx. 3 or more avocado pits with 50o ml water for 20 mins, then sieve. Leave to cool. Then wash your hair with it - it becomes wonderfully soft. It is best to make in advance. It will keep in the fridge for approx. 2 weeks.
- Hair treatment: Mix it with 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and massage it in well. Leave it on for an hour or two or even overnight.
