Marvelling at God's answers
It never ceases to amaze me how God answers my prayers. At the moment, my two greatest prayers are
– a prayer for a lovely, central, easily accessible mooring for my boat…
– for enough volunteers to help ensure that the first phase of construction – getting the ship up and running – can be completed soon. And then „all that remains“ is the interior work.
A team from Serve the City and Bord were actually supposed to arrive today. Unfortunately, for the first time, they didn’t have enough sign-ups, so it looks like it’s not going to happen. That worried me a bit… there’s still sooo much work to do. I put it in God’s hands. And straight away, I got a message from Tobias in Hamburg, who’d already spent two weeks on board. „I told God that I’d come back to help if I had a job offer by 20 July.“ That wasn’t „blackmail“, but simply because he wouldn’t otherwise have been able to afford the trip.
And yesterday there was another surprise. Whenever I go to the site where my ship is moored, I greet the other staff, pay them a compliment on their work – it really always looks great – or just wave a „hello“ their way. Yesterday evening, an employee waved from the shore and called out proudly: „Look, that’s my son!“ pointing to a young man by his side. I invited the two of them on board and showed them the boat. The son was impressed that I, as the owner, was lending a hand myself. And at the end he said: „I’ve got a week free next week. I’ll come and help you!“ What’s that – a person I’ve only known for half an hour.
I am struck by the imaginative ways in which God answers my prayers, by His love for me – and by people’s kindness.
