12.5 minutes in Berlin

What happens in Berlin in 12.5 minutes?
– 1,665 currywurst sausages are bought
– 879 kebabs are served over the counter at the kebab shops
– 8 trains pass through the main station
– One new business is being set up. That is almost twice as many as the national average. [Source: Berliner Zeitung, 15 November 2010]
No wonder I feel so at home in this entrepreneurial city.

  1. …and at the moment, crazy Berlin is very Christmassy. There are loads of Christmas markets, which are bustling with locals and visitors alike. But I never would have thought that so many currywurst would be sold in less than a quarter of an hour – well, I never!!

    Best regards, Peter

  2. One thousand six hundred and sixty-five currywurst? I can hardly believe it. I’ve only bought one in three and a half years. So, to make up the difference, there must be people who’ve eaten mine as well. Wow.
