A little pressure ... does you good!

I’ve sold quite a few things over the last few weeks:

  • A couple of portholes
  • Several window panes
  • A ship's lamp
  • A pair of shoes
  • A nightdress
  • A dozen second-hand books
  • A perfume
  • A mobile phone
  • A bag
  • Rubber seals for boat windows

I’d been meaning to finally sort out some of these sales for ages, to make some space. But then other things always seemed more important. Until the pressure started to mount. Mainly due to financial worries. In April, I had high costs and low income at the publishing house, and high expenses on the boat. On top of that, a few niggling issues – such as the gear shift on my bike breaking. All of this combined created pressure. And that prompted me to take action.

I listed quite a few items on eBay and posted updates on Facebook about my sales of second-hand books, CDs and videos on Amazon
And lo and behold – it worked. Even though some items didn’t fetch the hoped-for price, but were sold for just €1, they all brought a sense of relief. A bit more space on the boat. And in the flat.

Now I’m grateful because I can see that the pressure has helped me feel a sense of relief… with a few things off my mind. That’s a huge relief. And I’m grateful to the pressure for helping me feel more at ease now.

There are still a few things left that I’m looking to sell.

  • More ship windows
  • Two oil-fired heating systems
  • A beautiful antique cabinet
  • A large, powerful compressor
  • A beautiful but oversized ship's propeller
  • Clothing
  • Books
  • Old ship fittings that I can’t reuse in their entirety.
  • 100 Books

As the pressure is still on, I’ll be tackling this head-on again over the next few days. And this weekend there’s a boat flea market at the boat manufacturer where my boat is currently moored. I’ll have a stall there – and I hope that afterwards I’ll be a few hundredweight lighter in materials and a few coins and notes heavier.

  1. Hello Kerstin,

I wish you every success with your ship's flea market and all your other eBay sales, and I really hope you make as much money as possible.
It’s not a bad idea sometimes to kill two birds with one stone – clearing out your clutter and earning a few quid at the same time.

I suppose we’ll see each other on Friday in Esslingen. I’m looking forward to spending the evening with you.
And I hope you've received my little birthday present.

    Best regards
    Anette

And just in case you want to tell the many An(n)ettes you know apart, well, I’m the one whose name is spelled with just one „n“ :-)
