Challenged

2014-04-12 11.50.59Things are moving forward. Step by step. Task by task.   There is still a great deal of work ahead of me and my friends, but it’s also wonderful that the work in some areas will soon be finished. When you have a few dozen building sites on the go at the same time, it’s a good feeling when you can say, in one place or another: The corner is finished.

2014-04-12 14.41.25Rudder box: That’s been completely painted – thanks to the Vineyard lads from Switzerland and Sabine. One pipe still needs to be welded shut – then it’ll be finished.

Roof: Painted 1–3 times. A third of the roof still needs a second and third coat.

Anchor locker: 1 / 3 painted. Thanks, Sabine. It still needs a final coat of paint and some ballast. And the chain still needs to be brushed down and painted. Then you could also say: That's done.

Over the next few weeks, I’d like to finish one area after another: the roof, the storage lockers in the canopy, the whole canopy, the aft deck, the wheelhouse… and „tick off“ each space as it’s finished.

Finances

Things were looking good over the last few months. In recent weeks, my income has exceeded my expenses. It felt really good to build up a little cushion. Unfortunately, the tide is turning again right now. I’ve got some major expenses coming up in the next few weeks for electrical work, plumbing and flooring. I’m doing what I can to generate income: alongside coaching, seminars and publishing, I’m also selling items on eBay and Amazon. And I hope I can sell a few more items of clothing at the charity shop to raise some money. That probably won’t be enough to cover all the costs. I am therefore still grateful for any support that helps move the project forward.

I could still do with a helping hand there too. There are plenty of jobs anyone can do: removing rust, painting, sanding. And a number of tasks where experience is an advantage (carpentry, plumbing, electrical work). If you have a few hours, days or weeks to spare between now and the summer and would like to support me – please get in touch. I’m grateful for any help – even if it’s just two or three hours. Of course, you’re welcome to help for longer – and please feel free to get your friends involved too: it’s much more fun when you come along with your partner, a friend, colleagues, a (youth) group or a house group.
