Discover life - thanks for movement
Was I alive today?
Yes!
It was bittersweet putting my summer clothes at the back of the wardrobe this evening. Bittersweet because it’ll probably be quite a while before I can wear off-the-shoulder clothes again. Beautiful, because I was able to do it practically pain-free. Over the last few days, everything has been aching. I even felt pain when opening doors – I was absolutely amazed at all the things you need your back muscles for, and what you miss when they’re not really up to the job. That’s why I’m doubly grateful right now.
I was also delighted with a coaching success yesterday. It’s just lovely when someone undergoes a lasting change. That makes me feel content and happy.
What new things have I discovered about life?
Sometimes I wonder if my prayers on board have a built-in turbo. Somehow, they seem to be answered more quickly than my other prayers. This evening, I’ve been thinking – and worrying a bit – about the next steps. It was a shame that, because of my back pain, I couldn’t spend at least half a day on board this week and didn’t have any helpers either. The whole project is a balancing act between the limited resources of time, energy and money that are available. I’ll also be travelling a lot for work over the next few weeks. A seminar last weekend. An event with 300 women in Wiesbaden next weekend. That’s good, because of course I’ll be earning money there, which I can really do with. But it’s a shame because I can’t be on board.
In short: it occurred to me to worry a little about whether and how I’d be able to manage it all. And I didn’t want to get stuck there. I asked my God for encouragement – a sign of encouragement that does my heart good.
Less than two minutes after the prayer, the phone rang. „Listen, I’m looking for a job for a friend of mine… oh yes… if you can sort that out, I’ll help you spend a weekend on board!“ The brilliant thing is: the man who rang isn’t just really nice, he also knows his way round ships really well. He knows what he’s talking about. Having him on board for two days would be a dream.
Of course, I immediately asked on Facebook if anyone knew anything… and I’ll keep asking around. Whether it works out or not… it’s given me a real boost!!! It was as if God was winking at me and saying: „Hey, don’t worry about it. I’ve still got 1,000 ideas up my sleeve that you haven’t even heard of yet.“
What new things have I discovered about myself?
I don’t really find it easy to decide when to do things myself and when to delegate. I like it when things are in motion. If there’s little or no movement, I find that unsettling. Things don’t have to be constantly on the move, but I quite like having the reassurance that things will start moving again. Just like with my back, where I’ve welcomed every tiny sign of restored mobility with jubilation.
That’s precisely why it does me good when people advise me to look after myself and take breaks, so that I’ll still have energy even when I’m 90. It does me good because I tend to push through everything with vigour to keep things moving.
And for now, I’m just looking forward to being back on board tomorrow… doing some light work… with a friend who’s helping me.
