The ship is coming to Berlin!
A huge milestone has been reached. I’ve just received the news that I’ve been granted permission to transport my ship to Berlin.
Before that, there were a few other hurdles to overcome. Apart from the shipyard costs, which are now covered by 90%, the biggest challenge was the ship’s lack of draught. We have now achieved the necessary draught by adding 5 tonnes of concrete and flooding the tanks. I am very grateful to Karl, the boat builder who planned this, and to all the men who lent a hand with the gruelling work!
Let's get going!
We’re set to set off on Saturday. As the ship no longer has its own propulsion, it will be towed to Berlin. The journey will take four days and cost 12,000 euros – 30 euros per kilometre to cover the cost of the tugboat, crew, fuel and permits.
Would you like to help make sure the ship can get to Berlin? I’m looking for people to help with the mileage allowance… and to take on the transport for one or more kilometres. That would be brilliant.
If you’d like to contribute to the „start-up funding“, you can do so via my bank account (Account no.: 0479859400 // Sort code: 10080000) or via PayPal.
I’m sooo happy and grateful… the time has finally come.
What I need now:
Helpers, helpers, helpers.
Anyone who can lend a hand for a few hours or days – whether they have DIY skills or not – will help speed up the process. I’m planning to be on board myself whenever possible over the next few months, from Thursday lunchtime until Saturday evening or Sunday. If you’d like to help me during that time – or at any other time – just let me know. I’d love to have you on board!

What I need from now on:
Tool wanted
I’ve got a hammer, a pair of pliers, a set of screwdrivers… and that’s about it. To enable as many people as possible to get stuck in, I need tools. Cordless screwdrivers, saws, grinders and much more. If you have any tools you don’t need that you could donate to me or lend me for the duration of the build until around July 2014, that would be brilliant. Please let me know!
Hello Kerstin,
The list of second-hand books has finally inspired me to write to you about my order, which has built up over the course of a year!:
– Right in the thick of it
– Italian Baroque music in Franconia
– Swing
– Trial by fire
– Imagine
– 50 sheets of map-patterned gift wrapping paper
(if it’s still available – you put it up for auction about a year ago. As far as I know, the price back then was 10 euros)
I’ve worked out a total price of 62 euros plus postage. Is that correct?
Best wishes from Swabia
Elisabeth
