Trust - what can I trust in

The theme of „growing in trust“ continues to occupy my thoughts. One key question that I’ve been pondering is: What can I place my trust in? By this I don’t mean the fundamental question of what or whom I base my trust on. That is – at least in theory – relatively clear.
What concerns me more is the question of which specific things or actions of God I can hope for on the basis of what the Bible says. I’m still trying to make sense of it all.
I used to think I could trust that everything would turn out exactly as I imagined. I’m not usually that naive anymore – at least in theory. For one thing, God never promised that in so many words. He once promised David that he would become king. The „small print“ – namely, how much character-building, difficulties and challenges would precede this – David painstakingly deciphered over the course of the following years and decades. No doubt this was accompanied by a great deal of frustration.
If I have understood God correctly, then he has inspired me to build this ship. Which is not to say that everything will go smoothly.
My current understanding. I cannot be sure that everything will go smoothly. But I can trust that God is with me – and that he wants to, and will, guide me.
