Ceilings and walls for the ship
This month's motto is: Wood for the ship! A large delivery of wooden panels arrived on Tuesday, which we are using to clad ceilings and walls. That means:
- Paint 150 square metres of wood with linseed oil
- then sand smooth by hand
- then prime
- then delete
I'm very pleased that a team of several people from the USA is coming to help on Saturday. I'm expecting things to really get moving then. Pictures to follow.
One of the team is a qualified welder. This is a huge gift, because two portholes still have to be fitted below deck and this involves a lot of burning and welding work.
Fortunately, wood is not super expensive, but it still adds up to quite a bit of „wood“. If you'd like to help pay the bills, I'd be delighted. Gladly via Betterplace. then that's a big step forward. Once the ceilings and walls are done, we can turn our attention to the next items on the to-do list until completion - perhaps in the summer:
- Connecting the washing machine :-)
- Installing the hot water storage tank
- Install heating
- Kitchen in the main room
- Finish derusting the decks and paint them several times
- Building furniture for the deck
- Installing the stairs to the bedrooms
- Finish the shower
- Lay gas
- Laying cork flooring
- Installing doors
- Finalising the guest bunks
- Building a guest kitchen
- Wheelhouse windows
- Fitting lamps
- Install solar panels
- 1001 odds and ends
- Find a berth and bring the ship there
- Celebrate the inauguration
