Discover life - and find a new friend

2013-09-11 19.00.50Was I alive today?

Yes, and how! The best moment of the day was when I successfully put all 12 balls into the faces of Astrid Lindgren characters with my new friend Lukas (3rd grade) and he asked me at the end: „Will you be back tomorrow?“ Heart-warmingly beautiful.

What new things have I discovered about life?

If a water pipe is blocked, there doesn't necessarily have to be dirt in it. I was on board and tried to unblock a drain pipe from the roof and poked around in it. And was amazed when no dirt came out, but a big, fat spider. NO, I did NOT screech! But only almost! It's only worth screeching if there's someone nearby who can hear it. It's only half as much fun on your own.

What new things have I discovered about myself?

I'm not really good at dealing with people complaining and moaning. Today the sandblaster told me how difficult it was to get the layers of paint off the floor of the main room. He said this in a complaining undertone that triggered an automatic programme:

  • He is in a bad way.
  • I am responsible.
  • I have to do something to make him feel better.

My automatic programme then offered to pay him more (without the rest of me really thinking about it), even though we had agreed on a fixed price. Ouch. That wouldn't have been necessary. How someone feels is always first his thing. He could have said. „Crass. Full of hard colour. But I, the Macgyver of sandblasters, will master the challenge.“  And be able to feel like a hero about it.

  1. How good that someone else is not good at dealing with other people's moaning. That calms me down. If the person then doesn't want to take any advice, it creates a wave of powerlessness and anger in me. I've often wondered how to deal „constructively“ with such feelings and people.
I also love such „magic moments“ with children and enjoy the warm feeling in my chest :-)
    Kind regards, Elke
