Homeless people, chocolate kisses, healing and a little courage
I was actually annoyed. An employee on the boat told me that he needed money for materials at very short notice - until this evening. I had recently been near my bank. Today I have to make an extra trip because there isn't one near me.
I decided to combine the necessary with the useful and buy some honey and chocolate kisses for the house group tonight... sometimes you have to... One of the nicest homeless people I know was standing outside the shop. He always has a smile and a warm word on his lips. After shopping, I gave him some change and offered him a chocolate kiss. Another gentleman stood up. The homeless man took it, but the older gentleman refused because he had diabetes. But another man shouted: „Eating alone makes you fat!“ and asked if he could have one too. But gladly. Even though his wife was incredibly embarrassed.
The homeless man then told us that he had stomach problems and was having a gastroscopy the next day. The Bible says that we, as people who follow Jesus, should lay hands on sick people. And that things will then get better for them. Even though I have rarely experienced this so far, I have resolved to take the risk more often and offer people prayer. What happens then is not in my hands. But I could at least do my part - lay hands on people.
I didn't really have the courage to ask him if I could pray for him. I just said that I would ask God to heal him. I was almost a little sad. And I hope that I will be braver next time.
And he told me that he has a Hungarian mother and that Hungarian is obviously his mother tongue. Just yesterday I was wondering what I would do with the 10 Hungarian copies of my book. The hut and me that I have in the office and that I don't need myself. Now I've already found an answer. I'm going to give him one as a present.
