Leave no trace in everyday life - how I learn the special form of mindfulness

I'm currently practising not to leave any traces behind.

This is an image that Jan von Wille in his Quadro Mindfulness is used. It describes staying with something until it is completely finished. So that a detective could not recognise that you had been there.
For me, that means

  • Do not put the cups in the dishwasher before but immediately after use
  • Put back the documents I was working with straight away.
  • Close a page I've been surfing when I'm done.
  • Fold clothes immediately after taking them off and put them in the right place, etc.

That sounds exhausting at first - and it is a bit.

Especially for someone like me, who quickly has a head full of new ideas even before the old ones are finished. It's much easier to start something new than to finish the old one completely.

But at the same time, I find it incredibly relieving to practise this.

There is nothing lying around. Neither in your own environment. Or in your head.
