Coaching. Is the chemistry right?
The decision to tackle issues with a coach is an exciting one for most people. It is often accompanied by uncertainty and questions such as:
- Do I like the coach?
- Does the coach meet me at eye level?
- How does the coach respond to my concerns?
- Does the coach have the experience and expertise to support me in my specific case?
- Am I "in good hands" with this coach?
- Do I want to entrust my concerns to this coach?
I know that the first step often takes a lot of effort. You don't necessarily want to confide in a stranger about a personal issue. Perhaps there are also difficult topics that are not easy to talk about. Or you may wonder whether the financial investment is worth it and how long the process might take.
Some people are nervous before making such a decision and worry because they don't know what exactly to expect, whether coaching is the right thing. And whether the coach is the right one for the topic.
These questions and uncertainties can sometimes also be an obstacle and prevent you from booking a helpful coaching session.
Is the spark ignited?
One of the most important factors in coaching is the relationship between coach and coachee. The prerequisite for a successful coaching process is only given if the coachee has the feeling that they can trust the coaching and the coach. You can only judge this once you have got to know each other.
As a coach, I feel the same way. It is important for me to know whether I can work with the coachee. After all, it's not just about one hour of coaching, but about a process and a longer period of time that we organise and spend together.
The initial meeting is a helpful tool here. It is at the beginning of the coaching process and serves to establish a basis for decision-making for future collaboration. You find out:
- whether the "chemistry" is right,
- whether the topic can be tackled together and
- whether a trusting coaching relationship can be established
Initial interviews serve as a bridge
A bridge is a structure that spans obstacles. During the initial consultation, we may both be able to build a bridge for you that will make your decision in favour of coaching easier:
We can clear up uncertainties, questions about the process can be answered, you get an impression of me (and I of you, so that we both gain clarity as to whether a coaching process is on the cards.
An initial consultation with me is without obligation and free of charge. Its primary purpose is to get to know each other personally and to assess whether a common basis for cooperation is possible.
I would like to tell you a little about an initial consultation with me so that you can get an idea of what to expect. Of course, every conversation is a little different because every person is a little different, but the main features of an initial consultation are similar.
An initial consultation lasts 30 minutes.
You tell me your topic and the desired goal. We will not (yet) work on a topic in this conversation. I will think about how we can find the way to your goal and work with you to assess your needs.
Who is an hour of coaching for?
If you have a specific emotional or practical problem that you want to solve with coaching - then book a coaching session directly. The initial consultation is not intended for this case. I will support you in finding a solution during the coaching session.
Who is the initial consultation for?
If you...
- are looking for prospects for your professional or personal life or
- want to tackle a longer change process with me
Then you can book an initial consultation with me.
You name the goal, I lead the process
Your life can stay the way it is, but it doesn't have to.
The coaching methods in which I am trained aim to help the person I am coaching to find their own solutions by asking specific questions. Self-developed solutions usually have far more power than ideas that are brought to you from outside.
After getting to know each other, we will discuss whether we want to go down the same path together. If we both decide in favour of this, we will make an appointment for the first coaching session.
So check ...
... those who commit themselves forever, as the saying goes. The initial consultation is such a non-binding test. But we won't commit ourselves forever. People often ask me:
How long will we walk a common path?
There is no such thing as "normal" in coaching. The need varies from person to person.
At the end of the initial consultation, we will both be able to better assess which time frame is suitable for you and your topic.
You are my biggest dream!
I would be happy to support you in gaining clarity and becoming strong - for your personal life or your business.
Make an appointment here for a free, no-obligation initial consultation. I look forward to getting to know you.
